Teboho Mokoena’s agent responds to Al Ahli transfer links

Teboho Mokoena’s agent, Glynn Binkin, says he is unaware of reported interest from Saudi Pro League side Al Ahli in the South African midfielder.

The highly-rated midfielder, who plies his trade for Mamelodi Sundowns has reportedly emerged as a potential target for Al Ahli, who are believed to be considering the Bafana Bafana star as a possible replacement for former Barcelona midfielder Franck Kessié.

The Ivory Coast star recently departed the Saudi Arabian club, creating a vacancy in midfield, and Mokoena is reportedly among the players being considered to fill the position.

However, Binkin has played down his knowledge of the reported approach, saying he has not been informed of any concrete interest from Al-Ahli.

Despite this, the agent insists that Mokoena has reached a stage in his career where a move abroad would be a natural progression after establishing himself as one of the leading midfielders in South Africa.

“From my point of view, Teboho has achieved everything he could in South Africa, and at some point it will be his ambition to showcase his talent abroad and test himself against some of the best players, especially since many of them are now also playing in the Saudi League,” Binkin said, as quoted by Kora Plus.

Mokoena has enjoyed an impressive career in South African football and has developed into an influential figure for both club and country. His performances have attracted attention beyond the domestic league, particularly because of his ability to control the midfield, deliver long-range passes and contribute defensively.

The 29-year-old has also become an important player for the South African national team, gaining valuable international experience and regularly competing against some of the continent’s strongest sides.

A move to the Saudi Pro League could therefore represent a significant new chapter in Mokoena’s career. The league has attracted several high-profile players in recent years, offering established footballers the opportunity to compete alongside and against some of the biggest names in world football.

Binkin believes Mokoena is capable of taking that step whenever the right opportunity presents itself, stressing that the midfielder has the ability to compete at the highest level.

While there is currently no confirmation that Al-Ahli have submitted a formal offer, their reported interest could develop into a serious pursuit if the Saudi club decide that Mokoena is the right player to replace Kessié.

For now, Mokoena remains focused on his career, but with his agent acknowledging that playing abroad is an ambition, a move away from South Africa could become a realistic possibility if an attractive proposal arrives.
