Noam Emeran leaves FC Groningen after spell in Dutch football

Rwanda-France winger Noam Emeran has left FC Groningen and joined the ranks of unattached players after ending his time with the Dutch club.

The 23-year-old left-sided attacker’s departure was recorded on 31 August 2026, bringing an end to his association with Groningen. No transfer fee was disclosed for the move, and Emeran’s next club has not been established.

Emeran spent the second half of the 2025-26 season on loan at FC Emmen after moving there from Groningen in February. He returned to Groningen at the end of the campaign before departing the club later in the summer.

The left winger joined Groningen from Manchester United Under-21s on a free transfer in August 2023. His move to the Eredivisie followed several years within Manchester United’s youth system, having progressed from the club’s Under-18 side to the Under-23s and then the Under-21s.

Before joining Manchester United, Emeran came through the youth ranks at Amiens SC. He moved to the French club’s Under-17 side from Entente SSG’s youth set-up in July 2017, before transferring to Manchester United’s youth system in February 2019 for a reported €2m.

Emeran is left-footed and plays primarily on the left wing. He is listed at 1.79m and holds both Rwandan and French nationality.

His final recorded spell with Groningen came as the club competed in the Eredivisie. During the opening four possible league matches of the 2026-27 season, he did not make an appearance before ending his association with the club.

Emeran’s market value was listed at €200,000 at the time of his departure, having previously reached a recorded high of €250,000.

The winger now leaves FC Groningen without a new club, completing his move into free agency on 31 August 2026.
