Cagliari bring in Inter attacking midfielder Yanis Massolin for Serie A loan spell
French-Algerian attacking midfielder Yanis Massolin has joined Cagliari from Inter on loan, completing a move that will keep the 23-year-old at the Serie A club until 30 June 2027.
Massolin, who is contracted to Inter, has signed with Cagliari on 31 August 2026 after switching clubs within Italy’s top flight. The left-footed midfielder is listed primarily as an attacking midfielder and will wear Cagliari’s colours for the 2026-27 season before returning to Inter when the loan ends.
Born in Moulins, France, Massolin stands 1.97m tall and represents the French-Algerian nationality profile recorded during his career. His arrival gives Cagliari a player with experience of moving through several levels of European football, having previously played in France, Belgium, Switzerland and Italy.
Massolin joined Inter from Modena on 2 February 2026 in a deal worth €3.5m. He then returned to Modena on loan later that same day, spending part of the 2025-26 campaign away from the Milan club before the end of that arrangement brought him back to Inter on 30 June.
His time at Modena followed a permanent move from Belgian side Francs Borains to the Italian club in July 2025 for €700,000. Before moving to Belgium, Massolin had been with Clermont Foot, joining the French club from Moulins-Yzeure on a free transfer in July 2022.
The move to Cagliari marks his latest step in Serie A. He is registered with the club for the 2026-27 campaign, although he had not made an appearance in the competition at the time of the transfer. Cagliari had played two possible league matches in the season, with Massolin yet to feature.
Massolin’s market value is recorded at €4.5m, while his contract with Inter runs until 30 June 2027. His temporary move to Cagliari is scheduled to conclude on that date, when he is due to return to Inter.
The transfer confirms Massolin as a Cagliari player for the 2026-27 season on loan from Inter.
