Paris Saint-Germain close to securing long-term Ousmane Dembele deal
Paris Saint-Germain are expected to finalise a new contract with France forward Ousmane Dembele in the coming days, with the agreement set to keep the 2025 Ballon d’Or winner at the club until the summer of 2030.
According to French outlet Foot Mercato, Dembele is preparing to extend his stay in Paris despite interest from Saudi Arabian clubs in recent months. The proposed renewal would add two years to his current agreement, which is due to expire in the summer of 2028.
Dembele, 29, joined Paris Saint-Germain from Barcelona in the summer of 2023. He has since become an important part of the club’s plans and is expected to continue his career under manager Luis Enrique once the new deal is completed.
Canal+ reported on Sunday that the France international had reached an agreement with the Paris Saint-Germain hierarchy. The report represents a decisive development in negotiations that have attracted attention because of the interest shown by clubs in Saudi Arabia.
However, Dembele is now set to remain with the French club rather than pursue a move away. The expected renewal would secure his future in Paris through the summer of 2030 and give the club a long-term commitment from a player who currently holds football’s most prestigious individual award.
Dembele’s season began unevenly, and he was subsequently given a period of rest to help him recover his best physical condition. The intention was to allow him to regain full readiness and return in the best possible circumstances.
The forward’s current contract remains in place until 2028, but the agreement reported by Canal+ and Foot Mercato would extend his spell at Paris Saint-Germain for a further two seasons. The club is expected to complete the renewal in the next few days.
Interest from Saudi Arabian clubs had provided a potential alternative for Dembele during the past several months, but the latest indications point firmly towards continuity in Paris. His next stage under Luis Enrique will therefore come at the club where he has been based since leaving Barcelona in 2023.
The developments follow a period in which Dembele’s form and fitness have been managed carefully after his inconsistent start to the campaign. His rest period was designed to help him return in optimal condition, while the contract talks have moved towards a conclusion.
