PSG close to securing new two-year deal for Ousmane Dembele

Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly close to confirming a new two-year contract extension for Ousmane Dembele, despite recent speculation surrounding his one-week absence from the squad.

The winger is expected to extend his stay in Paris until 2030.

PSG announced that Dembele had been granted time off by agreement with the coach and sporting management, adding that he would resume group training on Monday. The decision prompted suggestions that Luis Enrique had punished the Ballon d’Or winner, but those claims have since been dismissed.

Canal+ journalist Bertrand Latour said the break came after a request from the player following his half-time substitution against Rennes. “He stayed in the Paris region, he stayed quiet,” Latour said, adding that the instructions were for Dembele to avoid any physical activity before returning to training.

Latour also insisted that the episode has not damaged relations between the player and PSG. “This media incident changes nothing regarding his contract extension, which should be made official shortly,” he said.

Dembele could return for PSG’s next Ligue 1 match before continuing into their Champions League schedule. The expected deal would end any doubts about his immediate future at the club.
