Djurgarden secure England-Nigeria winger Abdul Abdulmalik from Boreham Wood

England-Nigeria winger Abdul Abdulmalik has joined Swedish club Djurgarden from Boreham Wood, completing a move to the Allsvenskan side on 30 August.

The 23-year-old left winger has agreed a contract running until 31 December 2029. Abdulmalik, who prefers his right foot, moves to Sweden after playing in England’s National League with Boreham Wood.

Abdulmalik made seven appearances in the 2025-26 campaign across the National League, National League Playoffs and FA Cup, scoring four goals and providing four assists. He started all three of Boreham Wood’s play-off matches, contributing two goals and two assists, while also scoring once in three FA Cup appearances.

He began the 2026-27 season with two National League appearances for Boreham Wood, recording one goal and two assists before switching clubs. His final involvement for the English side came as he moved to Djurgarden, who compete in Sweden’s top division.

The forward joined Boreham Wood from Millwall Under-21s in July 2024 on a free transfer. Before that, he had spent time with Wealdstone on loan during the 2023-24 season, returning to Millwall Under-21s in January 2024.

Abdulmalik developed through Millwall’s academy, progressing from the club’s youth side to the Under-18s and then the Under-21s. His move to Djurgarden represents his first recorded transfer outside England and gives him a new club after his spell in the National League.

During his time at Boreham Wood, Abdulmalik also helped the club win the National League Cup once. His recent record includes a goal participation in both league and play-off football, with his strongest contribution coming during the 2025-26 play-offs.

Djurgarden have now added an English-born attacker with Nigerian nationality to their squad, while Abdulmalik begins a contract in Sweden that runs through the end of 2029.
