Davis Mensah: Italy-Ghana striker joins Cittadella after Mantova spell
Italy-Ghana centre-forward Davis Mensah has joined Cittadella from Mantova on a free transfer, giving the Serie C club an experienced attacking option for the 2026-27 season.
Mensah, 35, moves to Cittadella after two seasons with Mantova, who competed in Serie B. He had joined Mantova from Pordenone in August 2022 and was part of the squad that won the Italian third-tier title in the 2023-24 season.
The forward was born in Bussolengo, Italy, and holds Italian and Ghanaian nationality. He is 1.86m tall and uses his right foot. Cittadella’s new signing has primarily played as a centre-forward during a career spent in the Italian league system.
His arrival takes him back to Serie C, where he previously enjoyed a title-winning campaign with Mantova. The move also continues a sequence of transfers between Italian clubs, following earlier spells with Pordenone, Triestina and Virtus Verona.
Mensah began that run with Virtus Verona after leaving Sandra in 2011. He moved to Triestina in 2017, then switched to Pordenone on a free transfer in 2021 before making the move to Mantova the following year. His transfer history has therefore been based entirely in Italy.
Cittadella will compete in Serie C – A during the 2026-27 campaign. Mensah joins the club after Mantova’s season in Serie B, bringing experience from both the second and third tiers of Italian football.
The forward’s highest recorded market value was €350,000, while his current valuation is €150,000. No transfer fee was paid for his move to Cittadella.
The deal was completed on 30 August 2026.
