Manchester United hit five as Bruno Fernandes scores hat-trick against Ipswich

Manchester United produced a convincing victory in the second week of the Premier League, beating Ipswich Town 5-1 after Bruno Fernandes scored three times and Bryan Mbeumo added a fifth late on.

Ipswich took the lead through Leif Davis, who struck from inside the penalty area. His effort hit the crossbar before settling in the net, giving the home side an early advantage.

United responded when an Ipswich defender lost possession. Fernandes reacted quickest, took the ball forward and finished to bring his side level.

Fernandes then extended United’s advantage from the penalty spot to make it 3-1. The captain was involved again for the fourth, finishing inside the area after a shot from Mbeumo had been saved and the loose ball fell into his path.

With 15 minutes remaining, United led 4-1 and controlled possession through a series of passes in midfield. The visitors made five substitutions during the match, while Ipswich also used five changes, completing their final alteration before the game ended.

Mbeumo completed the scoring with a composed finish. Fernandes played the ball to his Manchester United team-mate on the edge of the area, and Mbeumo timed his run before lifting a precise shot over the goalkeeper.
