Aston Villa v Arsenal: Gunners seek another statement win after contrasting starts

William Saliba, Jurrien Timber and new signing Guimaraes are all unavailable because of injury. Recent meetings offer encouragement and warning for both teams. Aston Villa won the last match played at home, beating Arsenal 2-1, but Arsenal responded emphatically in the return fixture with a 4-1 victory. Across the past five meetings, the record is evenly balanced, with both clubs winning twice and one match ending in a draw.

Arsenal’s early-season form makes them favourites to take another victory, according to Sangare’s assessment. Kai Havertz has scored in both the Community Shield and the league win against Coventry and appears to be playing with confidence.
