Sofyan Amrabat leaves Fenerbahce to become a free agent

Moroccan-Dutch midfielder Sofyan Amrabat has joined the ranks of players without a club after leaving Fenerbahce.

The 30-year-old defensive midfielder’s move was completed on 29 August 2026, ending his time with the Turkish club. No transfer fee has been recorded for the departure.

Amrabat joined Fenerbahce from Fiorentina in July 2025 for €12m. He spent part of the following season on loan at Real Betis before returning to Fenerbahce at the end of June 2026.

His spell at Betis followed a season in which he made a temporary move to Fiorentina from Manchester United. That loan came after Amrabat had joined the English club from Fiorentina in September 2023, with Manchester United paying a €10m loan fee.

Amrabat began his senior career at Utrecht before moving to Feyenoord in 2017. He later played for Club Brugge, Hellas Verona and Fiorentina, building a career across the Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, England, Spain and Turkey.

The midfielder has also represented Morocco and was part of the side that won the Africa Cup of Nations in 2025. He made three appearances at the 2026 World Cup, starting 17% of Morocco’s matches and playing 25% of the available minutes, without scoring or providing an assist.

Amrabat has won the English FA Cup with Manchester United, the Belgian championship with Club Brugge and the Dutch Cup with Feyenoord. He also claimed two Dutch Super Cup winners’ medals during his time in Rotterdam.

At 1.85m, the right-footed midfielder has primarily operated in a defensive midfield role. His highest recorded market value was €30m, while his current valuation stands at €10m.

Amrabat’s exit brings an end to his Fenerbahce tenure after one season, including his temporary switch to Real Betis. He is now officially without a club.
