Al Jazira complete season-long loan deal for Inter midfielder Kristjan Asllani

Al Jazira have announced the signing of Inter midfielder Kristjan Asllani on loan for the remainder of the current summer transfer window, with the deal taking the Albania international to the United Arab Emirates for one season.

The agreement does not include an option for Al Jazira to buy the player permanently at the end of the loan. Inter had spent the summer looking for proposals that would allow Asllani to leave the club.

The move represents the first time the 24-year-old has played outside Europe. Asllani has previously been linked with or moved to Torino and Besiktas, but he will now begin a new chapter in the UAE with Al Jazira.

Asllani made 99 appearances for Inter during his time at the Italian club. He scored four goals and provided five assists across those matches.

He also won four trophies with Inter. His honours include two Italian Super Cup titles, one Coppa Italia triumph and one Serie A championship.

Inter signed Asllani from Empoli in the summer of 2022, initially bringing him to the club on loan. The Milan side later activated the option to make the move permanent for a fee of €15m.

The midfielder’s departure follows a summer in which Inter explored opportunities for him to continue his career elsewhere. His season-long move to Al Jazira now gives him the chance to play in a new league and outside European football for the first time.

Asllani developed his professional career in Italy before joining Inter from Empoli. During his time at Inter, he was part of a squad that collected domestic honours while making almost 100 appearances for the club.

The terms announced by Al Jazira mean the Emirati club will have Asllani for one season, but there is no permanent transfer clause included in the agreement. At the end of the loan, his future will remain connected to Inter unless a separate arrangement is reached.

For now, the move takes Asllani to the UAE after his spells in Italian football and his more recent association with Besiktas. Al Jazira’s announcement confirms that the midfielder will spend the coming campaign with the club, while Inter continue to retain his registration.
