NK Rudes sign Gambia striker Cherno Saho from Rijeka on loan

The Gambia centre-forward Cherno Saho has joined NK Rudes from HNK Rijeka on a loan deal running until 30 June 2027.

The 21-year-old makes the move after spending the past part of his career with Rijeka, where he was part of the squad that won the Croatian championship in the 2024-25 season. He now remains in the SuperSport HNL, with Rudes becoming his third recorded club in Croatia.

Saho joined Rijeka from NK Buje in February 2025, having moved to Buje the previous September. His transfer to Rudes was completed on 28 August 2026, with Rijeka retaining his registration beyond the loan period.

Born in Latrikunda, Saho represents the Gambia and plays as a centre-forward. His arrival gives Rudes another attacking option as the club competes in domestic football and the current European campaign.

The move comes after Saho had not made an appearance for Rijeka in the 2026-27 SuperSport HNL season or in the qualifying rounds of the UEFA Conference League. He had also not recorded a goal or assist in either competition before switching clubs.

Rudes and Rijeka operate in the same league, allowing Saho to continue his development in familiar surroundings while taking on a new role with his temporary club. The transfer also follows a season in which his previous side claimed the Croatian title, the first championship success recorded in his achievements.

Saho’s loan is scheduled to end on 30 June 2027, when he is due to return to HNK Rijeka. The move has been completed with the Gambian forward joining NK Rudes for the 2026-27 campaign.
