Fenerbahce complete move for Ghana defender Kojo Peprah Oppong

Ghana centre-back Kojo Peprah Oppong has joined Fenerbahce from French club Nice, switching to the Turkish Super Lig side on 28 August 2026.

The 22-year-old defender arrives in Istanbul after one season with Nice, having moved to the Ligue 1 club from Swedish side Norrkoping in July 2025. Nice paid €2.68m for Oppong at the time of that transfer.

Oppong began his senior club career with Norrkoping after leaving the De Visser Academy in February 2023. He spent periods on loan at Swedish club GIF Sundsvall during the 2023-24 campaign before returning to Norrkoping.

The Accra-born player is 1.85m tall and favours his right foot. He plays primarily at centre-back, adding defensive depth to Fenerbahce’s squad after moving from France to Turkey.

Oppong has also featured at the 2026 World Cup, making two appearances and playing 13% of the available minutes. He did not score or provide an assist at the tournament and received one yellow card.

His move to Fenerbahce comes after he remained unused in Nice’s opening Ligue 1 fixture of the 2026-27 season. He had previously reached a market value of €10m, the highest recorded during his career.

The transfer marks the latest step in a career that has taken Oppong from academy football in Sweden to senior football in three European countries. His route has included loan spells, a move to France and now a switch to one of Turkey’s leading clubs.

Oppong has completed his move from Nice to Fenerbahce, where he will continue his career as a Ghanaian central defender.
