Real Madrid’s Yan Diomande commitment revealed as seven-year deal reaches €230m

Real Madrid’s decision to sign Ivorian defender Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig will cost the club about €230m once transfer payments, wages and taxes are included, underlining the scale of its investment in the player as part of Jose Mourinho’s new project.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Real Madrid paid €130m to secure Diomande’s services. The agreement consists of an initial €105m fee, with a further €25m available in performance-related bonuses.

That figure makes Diomande the most expensive signing in Real Madrid’s history.

The transfer fee, however, represents only part of the club’s financial commitment. Diomande has signed a seven-season contract that runs until 30 June 2033, with a salary of about €7m net per year.

His annual earnings before tax are understood to be close to €14m. Across the full length of the contract, the player is due to receive approximately €98m, of which around €49m will go towards tax.

When those costs are added to the potential transfer payments, the overall value of the operation rises to roughly €230m.

The scale of the deal reflects the confidence Real Madrid have placed in Diomande and the importance they attach to him within the club’s long-term plans. The defender has been identified as a central addition to the squad Mourinho is building at Santiago Bernabeu.

Diomande’s salary also places him among Real Madrid’s highest-paid players. He sits behind Kylian Mbappe, while Vinicius Junior follows after recently agreeing a new contract.

The financial details mean expectations will be substantial from the moment Diomande begins playing for the Spanish club. Real Madrid have not simply committed €130m to bring him to the capital; they have also handed him a long-term contract carrying a total cost approaching a quarter of a billion euros.

As a result, every appearance in a Real Madrid shirt is likely to attract close scrutiny. The size of the fee, his position among the club’s highest earners and the length of his contract will all add pressure as he attempts to establish himself in Mourinho’s new-look team.

For Real Madrid, the agreement is a major statement about the role they expect Diomande to play in the future. For the player, it represents both an exceptional financial commitment and a demanding test at one of football’s most closely watched clubs.
