Orlando Pirates hold slim MTN8 advantage as Sekhukhune United seek semi-final comeback

Orlando Pirates will need to guard against complacency when they face Sekhukhune United in the second leg of their MTN8 semi-final on Saturday, with a place in a fifth successive final at stake.

Their contributions give Ouaddou additional attacking options as he prepares for the second leg.

Appollis has made an impressive start to the season for Orlando Pirates, and his form will add to the defending champions’ threat as Sekhukhune United are forced to chase the game.

Ouaddou, though, will be aware that Saturday’s fixture cannot simply be treated as a repeat of Tuesday’s 2-0 league victory. The stakes are greater, and Sekhukhune United’s need to overturn the deficit should make them a significantly different opponent.

For Pirates, qualification would reinforce their extraordinary control of the MTN8 in recent seasons and secure another appearance in the final. But their previous success will offer no protection if they fail to finish the job over the second leg.
