MC Alger target Jordan winger Ali Azaizeh after Adam Ounas talks cool

MC Alger are close to signing Jordan international winger Ali Azaizeh on a season-long loan from Kazma SC, as negotiations to bring in former Napoli player Adam Ounas appear to have stalled.

The reigning Algerian champions are understood to have identified Azaizeh as an alternative on the left wing, according to Algerian journalist Wahid Bouciouf. The 22-year-old was part of Jordan’s squad at the 2026 World Cup and came on against Algeria during the tournament.

Azaizeh was born in Germany but grew up and developed as a footballer in Jordan. A left-footed player known for his dribbling and ability to drive forward from the flank, he has a similar profile to Ounas, whose move to MC Alger had appeared almost complete only a few days ago.

The Jordan international has played in Kuwait since 2025, when he joined Kazma SC, and most recently spent time on loan at Saudi Arabian club Al-Shabab.

MC Alger had believed they were close to securing the signing of Ounas. Following approval from Sonatrach, the club’s negotiations with the Algeria international had advanced significantly, with several contractual clauses reportedly already agreed.

However, the situation is said to have become strained during the final stage of the discussions. Ounas reportedly reacted badly to changes in the negotiating process and to direct approaches that were viewed as untimely, after his representatives had previously been handling the talks.

A delay in arranging his flight ticket to Algiers is also understood to have increased his frustration. Ounas is now said to have asked for additional time to consider the move, while his entourage has allowed serious doubts about a deal to emerge, according to Competition.

Azaizeh’s potential arrival would continue a growing connection between Jordanian internationals and clubs in the Maghreb following the World Cup.

Several of Jordan’s players have moved to North African sides since the tournament. Nizar Al-Rashdan, who scored against Algeria, joined Wydad Casablanca, while Mohammad Abu Zrayq signed for Raja. Hadi Al-Hourani has also moved to ES Setif.

Azaizeh could become the latest Jordanian player to make the switch to the region. If Ounas’ proposed move does collapse, MC Alger would already have a replacement lined up in the same position.

The club’s pursuit of Azaizeh therefore offers a possible solution to an increasingly uncertain transfer situation, with the winger’s loan move from Kazma SC expected to provide fresh attacking options for the Algerian champions.
