Newtown bring in dual-national midfielder Uniss Kargbo from Colwyn Bay
Ireland and Sierra Leone midfielder Uniss Kargbo has joined Newtown from Colwyn Bay on loan until 4 January 2027.
The 24-year-old central midfielder moves to the Cymru North club after spending the previous season with Colwyn Bay in the Cymru Premier. Kargbo joined Colwyn Bay from Bala on a free transfer on 1 July 2025.
Kargbo’s move to Newtown was completed on 28 August 2026, with the loan agreement scheduled to conclude at the start of January. He had not made an appearance for Colwyn Bay in the 2026-27 Cymru Premier campaign before switching clubs.
The midfielder began his senior career with Cork City, joining the club from Cork Academy in July 2020. He moved to Gwelup in November 2022 before transferring to Dianella WE the following season. Kargbo then returned to Wales with Bala in July 2024, where he spent one campaign before joining Colwyn Bay.
Born on 7 January 2002, Kargbo holds Irish and Sierra Leonean nationality. He is listed at 1.70 metres tall and is right-footed, with central midfield as his preferred position.
The move sees him drop from the Cymru Premier to the Cymru North for the remainder of the loan period. Newtown’s league campaign had included four possible matches by the time of Kargbo’s arrival, while the midfielder had yet to feature for Colwyn Bay this season.
Kargbo’s previous move to Colwyn Bay was completed without a transfer fee after his season at Bala. His market value is listed at €50,000, the same figure recorded during his spells with Bala and Colwyn Bay.
He becomes a Newtown player on a temporary basis, with the registration arrangement already including a return to Colwyn Bay on 4 January 2027. That future move is recorded as the end of the loan rather than a permanent transfer.
Kargbo has therefore left Colwyn Bay for Newtown on loan, with the switch completed on 28 August 2026.
