The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) has officially designated the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, USA, as the venue for the 2026 World Cup final, a field graced by the talent of Egypt’s football icon, Mohamed Salah.
The 2026 World Cup will unfold across three nations: the United States, Mexico, and Canada, spanning from June 11 to July 19, 2026.
Established in 2010, the MetLife Stadium serves as the home ground for both the New York Giants and the New York Jets in the National Football League (NFL).
This stadium witnessed a historic moment when Mohamed Salah, the captain of the Egyptian national team and striker for Liverpool, netted a goal during a friendly match that ended with Liverpool defeating Manchester City 2-1 in the 2018 edition of the International Champions Cup.
The stadium’s records also boast Lionel Messi’s remarkable performance in a friendly match where he secured a hat-trick, contributing to Argentina’s 4-3 victory over Brazil in 2012, as part of their preparations for the 2014 World Cup.
Similarly, Cristiano Ronaldo led Portugal to a 5-1 victory against Ireland in 2014, showcasing his prowess on the same pitch in preparations for the World Cup.
In 2017, MetLife Stadium received global recognition when it was awarded the title of the world’s best stadium by the Stadium Business Summit, an accolade reserved for outstanding sports venues worldwide.
