ADO Den Haag add Danish-Ghanaian defender Jonas Jensen-Abbew on deal until 2030

Jonas Jensen-Abbew, the Denmark and Ghana international centre-back, has joined ADO Den Haag from Danish champions Aarhus GF on a contract running until 30 June 2030.

The 24-year-old defender moves to the Netherlands after two seasons with Aarhus, where he helped the club win the Danish championship in the 2025-26 campaign. He becomes an ADO Den Haag player on 26 August 2026, switching from Denmark’s Superliga to the Eredivisie.

Jensen-Abbew made three appearances for Aarhus at the start of the 2026-27 season before completing his move. He played twice in Champions League qualifying, recording 134 minutes, and also featured once in the Superliga.

A right-footed central defender, Jensen-Abbew stands 1.89m tall and has represented both Denmark and Ghana through his nationality. His arrival gives ADO Den Haag an established option in the centre of their defence as they prepare for the Dutch top-flight campaign.

He joined Aarhus from Nordsjaelland in February 2024, with the transfer recorded at €1.25m. During his time at Nordsjaelland, Jensen-Abbew was also loaned to HB Koge in the 2022-23 season before returning to the club.

Jensen-Abbew began his senior pathway at Nordsjaelland after progressing through the club’s under-19 side. He had previously been with FCN Youth and AB Youth, where he started his football development.

His move to ADO Den Haag follows a season in which Aarhus secured the Danish title and a brief opening to the new campaign that included European qualifying appearances. The defender’s first recorded competitive outings for his new club will come after his transfer to the Netherlands.

Jensen-Abbew is now under contract with ADO Den Haag until the end of June 2030.
