Mostafa Mohamed poised to revive Turkey chapter with Konyaspor

Mostafa Mohamed is expected to leave FC Nantes for Konyaspor in a deal worth about €1m, with the Egypt international now understood to have made a return to Turkish football his preferred option.

The 28-year-old travelled to Turkey to meet his agent and consider the offers available to him. According to Maghreb-Foot, remaining with FC Nantes is no longer regarded as a realistic possibility.

L’Equipe reports that Mohamed is set to join Konyaspor, despite having a contract with the French club until 30 June 2027. The proposed transfer would enable the striker to return to a league he knows well after his previous spell with Galatasaray.

Mohamed first moved to Nantes on loan before the French club made the transfer permanent in June 2023. The deal included a purchase option worth €6m. Since then, he has made 136 appearances for FC Nantes, scoring 29 goals and providing eight assists.

His time with the Canaris has become increasingly difficult in recent months. Mohamed attracted attention at the beginning of pre-season after failing to report for the resumption of training. He was subsequently fined and eventually returned to the squad during the second half of July.

However, his return did not lead to a place in the first-team set-up. The forward was left out of the professional group and is now close to ending his three-season stay in Nantes.

A move to Konyaspor would give Mohamed the opportunity to relaunch his career in Turkey, where he previously made an impression during his time with Galatasaray. The striker is hoping to rediscover his best form after falling out of favour at FC Nantes.

Unless there is a late change to the situation, Mohamed is expected to leave Nantes and begin a new chapter with Konyaspor. The Turkish club will soon play their third league match of the season against Kocaelispor.

The source article also lists the betting odds for that fixture through 1xbet: Konyaspor are priced at 2.00 to win, a draw is quoted at 3.30, while a Kocaelispor victory is rated at 3.75.

Mohamed’s current market value is estimated at €3.5m. His annual salary at FC Nantes is reported to be €1,770,000, equivalent to 1,150,500,000 FCFA.
