Zamalek deny agreement to sell Juan Bezerra amid FIFA registration ban

Zamalek have denied reports that their board has agreed to sell Juan Bezerra, insisting the club’s position on the player has not changed.

A source at the Egyptian club told FilGoal.com that reports claiming a transfer fee had been agreed for Bezerra were inaccurate.

“There is no truth to what has been circulating in recent hours about the board agreeing to sell Juan Bezerra for an agreed financial amount. These reports do not reflect the reality,” the source said.

The source added that Bezerra remains under contract with Zamalek for another three seasons and said the club had already formally ended negotiations over a possible transfer.

“Zamalek’s position is firm and will not change. The player’s contract runs for three more seasons and any other claims are aimed at harming the team’s stability,” the source said.

“Zamalek officially announced that it had closed the door on negotiations over Bezerra’s transfer, and that decision has not changed,” the source added.

The comments come after Zamalek received a new two-window registration ban from FIFA.

The sanction relates to an outstanding instalment owed to Ukrainian club Oleksandria as part of the deal that brought Bezerra to Zamalek. The payment in question is worth 200,000 euros.

The source called on media organisations to publish accurate information and said the club’s management was handling the Bezerra matter through official and legal channels designed to protect Zamalek’s rights.

“We ask the media to mention the real information and not publish reports that do not reflect the truth at all. The club’s management is dealing with Bezerra’s case through official and legal procedures that protect the club’s rights,” the source said.

FIFA’s website had removed two Oleksandria-related cases from Zamalek’s list of registration-ban cases on 3 August. Both cases concerned money owed to the Ukrainian club from Bezerra’s transfer.

Those two Oleksandria cases had been the final disputes affecting Zamalek’s African licence. Zamalek had previously announced that it had resolved all of the cases connected to the licence, with FIFA subsequently confirming that position.

However, the club now has three registration-ban cases listed, according to the report. One is a disciplinary suspension that cannot be lifted even if payment is made. That case concerns former Zamalek player Salah Mohsen.

Zamalek are preparing for the 2026/27 season, when they will compete in the Egyptian Premier League, the CAF Champions League, the Egypt Cup and the Egyptian Super Cup.

The club’s denial therefore maintains that Bezerra is not being sold, despite the financial dispute with Oleksandria and the latest FIFA sanction. Zamalek say the player remains contracted for three further seasons and that their decision to stop negotiations over his departure remains in force.
