Kaizer Chiefs name line-up for Richards Bay clash as unbeaten run goes on the line

Kaizer Chiefs will look to protect their unbeaten start under Fernando da Cruz when they face Richards Bay FC in the Betway Premiership at the Princes Magogo Stadium on Wednesday evening.

Chiefs have taken seven points from their opening three league matches under Da Cruz, recording two victories and a draw. They currently occupy second place in the table, three points behind Soweto rivals Orlando Pirates.

The Soweto giants come into the match after a 1-1 draw with Mamelodi Sundowns and will be seeking a return to winning ways. Their unbeaten record will be tested by a Richards Bay side still searching for its first league victory of the campaign.

Richards Bay have drawn their opening two matches, sharing the points with Chippa United and Durban City. The Natal Rich Boys will take confidence from their most recent meeting with Chiefs, having secured a 1-0 victory in March at the King Zwelithini Stadium.

The match is scheduled for 25 August 2026 at the Princes Magogo Stadium.

Richards Bay start with Otieno in goal, while Mcineka, Ndelu, Sikhakhane and Mabuya form the defensive line. Mntungwa and Nashixwa are included in midfield, with Mthembu, Khumalo, Gumede and Xulu completing the starting XI.

Richards Bay substitutes: Mtshali, Simelane, Shezi, Zikhali, Mbambo, Nzama, Ndelu, Barns and Mahala.

Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Petersen is named behind a defence of Monyane, Miguel, Kwinika and Moloisane. Maboe and Ndlovu are selected in midfield, while Shabalala, Mmodi, Vilakazi and Baartman lead the attacking line.

Kaizer Chiefs substitutes: Leaner, Solomons, Frosler, Mthethwa, Mtasingwa, Duba, Ighodaro, Velebayi and Abrahams.

The fixture gives Chiefs an opportunity to maintain their momentum at the top end of the Betway Premiership, while Richards Bay will hope home advantage can help them claim their first league win. The Natal Rich Boys will also be attempting to repeat the result from their March meeting, when they edged Chiefs 1-0 at the King Zwelithini Stadium.
