Couhaib Driouech agrees Celta Vigo move and signs deal until 2030
Celta Vigo have officially announced the signing of Moroccan winger Couhaib Driouech, their fifth arrival of the current transfer window.
The 24-year-old has joined from PSV Eindhoven and has agreed a four-year contract with the Spanish club that will run until June 2030.
According to Marca, Celta Vigo will pay PSV Eindhoven about €7m for Driouech. It is the club’s first fee-paying signing of the summer, after Alex Fivas and Javi Galan arrived as free agents, while Faye and Penders joined on loan.
Driouech was born in the Netherlands and is of Moroccan descent. He spent the past two seasons with PSV Eindhoven, making 61 official appearances and contributing 12 goals and 10 assists.
His experience also includes 12 matches in the UEFA Champions League during that period. He scored four goals in the competition and supplied two assists.
Celta Vigo described their new recruit as a player primarily suited to the left wing, although capable of operating on the right.
“Driouech is a winger who mainly plays on the left wing, with the ability to play on the right wing as well. He stands out for his speed and dribbling ability, as well as his capacity to create attacking chances in the final third, particularly in one-on-one situations, change the pace of the game and exploit spaces behind the defensive line,” the club said.
Celta added that the player’s qualities would fit closely with the approach of manager Claudio Giraldez.
“His characteristics fit perfectly with Claudio Giraldez’s style, so his arrival will give Celta greater depth, variety and new attacking options,” the club said.
Driouech’s move gives Celta an attacking player with experience at the highest level of European club football, while also adding another young option to Giraldez’s squad.
“With Driouech’s arrival, Celta have signed a young player with experience at the highest level and significant potential for development in another season that promises to be exciting,” the club added.
The transfer represents a significant investment for Celta as they continue to build their squad for the new campaign. Driouech’s ability to play on either flank is expected to provide tactical flexibility, with the club specifically highlighting his pace, individual skill and ability to attack space.
His record at PSV Eindhoven includes regular involvement in domestic and European competition, giving him a broad range of experience despite his age. Over two seasons, he combined goal contributions with a creative role in the final third, registering 22 goals and assists in official matches for the Dutch club.
Celta Vigo’s announcement confirms the completion of the deal and makes Driouech the latest addition to a recruitment programme that has included permanent free transfers and loan agreements, as well as the club’s first major transfer fee of the summer.
