Senegal star El Hadji Malick Diouf set for Brentford move from West Ham

Brentford and West Ham United are reportedly close to reaching an agreement over the transfer of Senegal international El Hadji Malick Diouf.

According to French outlet Foot Mercato, only a few details remain to be settled before the deal for the 21-year-old defender can be completed, with an agreement expected in the coming days.

Diouf has attracted interest after establishing himself as an important player for West Ham since arriving in London from Slavia Prague last year.

West Ham look to cash in after relegation

West Ham are expected to use Diouf’s sale to raise funds after their relegation to the Championship.

The Senegal international joined the Hammers from Slavia Prague for €22m and quickly became a regular on the left side of the team.

Transfermarkt currently values the Ziguinchor-born player at around €28m, meaning West Ham could make a significant return on their investment if the proposed move to Brentford is completed.

Diouf started 32 of his 34 appearances across all competitions last season and contributed five assists.

Senegal international heading for new challenge

Diouf has also become an established member of the Senegal national team.

The 21-year-old has made 23 appearances for the Teranga Lions and featured at both the most recent Africa Cup of Nations and World Cup.
