Paris Saint-Germain reject €115m Liverpool offer for Bradley Barcola

Paris Saint-Germain have rejected Liverpool’s latest offer for Bradley Barcola, worth €115m including bonuses, as negotiations over the France international’s future enter a decisive stage before the summer transfer window closes on 1 September.

The European champions have already lowered their original asking price, but the two clubs remain apart in their valuation of the forward. According to Spanish newspaper AS, Paris Saint-Germain turned down Liverpool’s most recent proposal despite reducing their demands during discussions.

The French club initially sought €160m for Barcola, then lowered that figure to €140m. They are now prepared to accept less, although the offer from Liverpool has not yet reached an acceptable level.

Barcola’s position has become increasingly uncertain since he refused to extend his contract with Paris Saint-Germain. He has reached a preliminary agreement with Liverpool, who are determined to complete a deal for the 22-year-old before the deadline.

Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique has left Barcola out of his squad while the player’s future is resolved. The decision reflects the coach’s view that the France international is no longer part of his plans, while Barcola now wants to leave the club.

That was not always his intention. Barcola had originally been prepared to remain in Paris and compete for a place in the starting line-up, rather than push for a move. However, the situation changed completely following the arrival of Ferran Torres and Mika Godts.

All parties are increasingly confident that an agreement can be reached. Barcola is keen to join Liverpool, while his continued presence at Paris Saint-Germain could create an unwanted problem for Luis Enrique as the club finalises its squad for the new season.

The player’s situation is also putting significant pressure on Paris Saint-Germain. If they cannot sell Barcola, the club will be unable to strengthen its squad, at least in attack, before the summer transfer window shuts.

Talks between Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool have made gradual progress in recent days. Barcola, who previously played for Olympique Lyonnais, has even urged the club’s sporting director to reach an agreement with the English side after it became clear he was not included in Luis Enrique’s plans.

The next few hours could prove crucial in deciding one of the summer’s most prominent transfer sagas. Barcola announced in July that he did not intend to renew his Paris Saint-Germain contract beyond 2028, the year in which his current deal with the holders of the UEFA Champions League expires.

Liverpool’s preliminary agreement with the player has strengthened their position, but the clubs must still bridge the gap over the fee. With the deadline approaching and Paris Saint-Germain needing clarity over both Barcola’s future and their attacking options, negotiations are expected to remain intense.
