Zamalek deny Appeals Committee requested documents in Zizo dispute

Zamalek have denied reports that the Egyptian Football Association’s Appeals Committee has asked the club and Al Ahly player Ahmed Sayed “Zizo” to submit documents within a week as part of their dispute.

A source at Zamalek told FilGoal.com that the club had not received any notification granting it a seven-day deadline to provide evidence supporting its appeal against a decision by the Players’ Affairs Committee.

The source said: “There is no truth to what has been circulated over the past few hours about the Appeals Committee of the Egyptian Football Association informing the club that it had been given one week to submit documents supporting Zamalek’s appeal against the Players’ Affairs Committee’s decision to close the complaints exchanged between the club and Zizo.”

The Players’ Affairs Committee had notified both parties that their respective complaints had been closed. Zamalek and Zizo had each submitted a complaint claiming they were entitled to receive outstanding payments from the other.

Zizo filed his complaint with the Egyptian Football Association seeking payment of arrears he said were owed to him by Zamalek. The club subsequently lodged a complaint against the player, citing his absence from team training during the final period of his time at Zamalek.

Zamalek have appealed against the decision relating to the complaint they made against Zizo. The club believes it still has financial rights against the player and is seeking to have those claims recognised.

The source added: “Zamalek are ready with all the papers and documents related to this case. Our position is firm and clear. The club appealed against the ruling issued in favour of the player in Zamalek’s complaint against him, particularly because the club believes it has rights against Zizo and insists on obtaining them.”

The club has not yet been asked to submit any further evidence, according to the source.

They said: “If the Appeals Committee requests the documents, they will be submitted, but so far no documents have been requested from the club.”

The dispute concerns the final stage of Zizo’s spell at Zamalek before his move across Cairo to Al Ahly. He left Zamalek at the end of the season before last and joined Al Ahly on a free transfer.

The latest denial relates specifically to reports that the Appeals Committee had formally requested documentation from both Zamalek and Zizo within a set period. Zamalek’s position, as outlined by the source, is that it remains prepared to provide the material supporting its appeal if an official request is made, but that no such request had arrived at the time of the statement.
