Yan Diomande proud to work under ‘best coach in the world’ at Real Madrid
Yan Diomande says he is proud to have joined Real Madrid and to be working under the coach he considers the best in the world.
The Ivorian was presented to the media on Tuesday evening as a new Real Madrid player after completing his move from RB Leipzig during the current summer transfer window.
Speaking at his unveiling, Diomande said the opportunity to represent the Spanish club fulfilled a dream shared by footballers across the world.
“I am proud because this is the biggest club in the world. Every player dreams of playing for Real Madrid and I will give everything I have for the club,” he said.
Diomande also expressed his excitement at training under the club’s manager and sharing a dressing room with some of the game’s leading players.
“Training under the best coach in the world and sharing a dressing room with the best players is wonderful,” he added.
The player said Real Madrid’s history and collection of trophies had strengthened his desire to compete for further success.
“Seeing these trophies makes you train to win another one. It is enjoyable to compete for La Liga and the UEFA Champions League in order to win them, and why not start this year?” he said.
Diomande became the most expensive player in Real Madrid’s history when he joined from RB Leipzig in the current summer transfer window.
He has already made his debut for the club, featuring in Real Madrid’s opening La Liga match against Espanyol.
His first appearance came shortly after his presentation, underlining how quickly the new signing has been introduced into the first-team set-up. The match against Espanyol was Real Madrid’s first league fixture of the campaign, giving Diomande an immediate opportunity to begin his career at the club in competitive football.
The move from RB Leipzig has placed Diomande at one of the biggest clubs in the world, a status he referred to repeatedly during his first public appearance as a Real Madrid player. His comments focused on the scale of the club, the quality of the squad and the expectation of challenging for major honours.
Real Madrid’s targets include La Liga and the UEFA Champions League, the two competitions highlighted by Diomande as he outlined his ambitions. He said the club’s existing trophies provide motivation rather than satisfaction, inspiring the squad to pursue more silverware.
For Diomande, the transfer represents the chance to play for a club he described as every player’s dream. Having completed the move from RB Leipzig and appeared against Espanyol in La Liga, he has now begun his Real Madrid career with the opportunity to compete for the trophies he identified at his presentation.
