Al Hilal agree personal terms with Arsenal winger Gabriel Martinelli

Al Hilal have reached an agreement with Arsenal winger Gabriel Martinelli over a move this summer, according to transfer journalist Nicolo Schira, although negotiations between the Saudi Arabian club and Arsenal are still continuing.

Martinelli would reportedly sign a contract with Al Hilal running until the summer of 2030 if the transfer is completed. The Brazil international is also expected to earn about 20m euros per year under the proposed agreement.

Sky Sports has reported that Al Hilal remain in discussions with Arsenal over the deal. The Saudi club are understood to be willing to pay 60m euros for Martinelli, although an agreement between the two clubs has not yet been finalised.

The 25-year-old has become open to joining Al Hilal after turning down an offer from Turkey. Galatasaray had pushed strongly to sign the Arsenal winger before the end of the summer transfer window, according to reports.

Martinelli scored only once in the Premier League last season, making 30 appearances. His recent league record has also come under scrutiny, with the Brazilian scoring 15 goals in his past 98 Premier League matches.

He was left out of Arsenal’s opening Premier League match against Coventry City on Friday as discussions over his future continued. His absence has added to speculation that he could leave the club before the transfer window closes.

A departure without Arsenal signing a replacement winger would leave manager Mikel Arteta with fewer options in the wide attacking positions. Noni Madueke can operate on either flank, while Christos Tzolis is expected to be used in more than one attacking role.

Arsenal could also be required to rely more heavily on Max Dowman if Martinelli leaves. However, it remains unclear whether the 16-year-old is ready to play a significant role for the first team during the next season.

The proposed move would therefore depend on Al Hilal and Arsenal reaching an agreement over the transfer fee, after the Saudi Arabian side reportedly settled terms with Martinelli. For now, talks between the clubs are ongoing.
