Bashir Asiku switches to Blacks Power in Uganda free transfer

Uganda right-back Bashir Asiku has joined Blacks Power from Calvary on a free transfer, strengthening the Uganda Premier League club’s defensive options.

The 26-year-old completed the move on 24 August 2026 after leaving Calvary, where he had spent the previous season. Asiku’s arrival gives Blacks Power an experienced defender who operates primarily on the right side of the back four.

Asiku has played in Uganda’s top-flight competition and in continental tournaments during his career. His record includes six Uganda Premier League appearances, four in the Caf Champions League and one in the Caf Confederation Cup.

He joined Calvary from Lugazi on 25 September 2025, having previously moved to Lugazi from Gaddafi in July 2024. His earlier career also included a spell with Wakiso Giants after leaving Vipers on a free transfer in August 2023.

The move to Blacks Power represents the latest step in a series of club changes for Asiku since his departure from Vipers. He has remained within Ugandan football throughout that period, featuring for clubs competing domestically and in African club competitions.

Asiku’s most recent recorded playing involvement includes 371 minutes in the Uganda Premier League, alongside 360 minutes in the Caf Champions League and 48 minutes in the Caf Confederation Cup. Those appearances underline his experience across both domestic and continental fixtures.

Blacks Power will now have Asiku available as a right-back following his switch from Calvary. The defender’s market value is listed at €25,000, although no transfer fee was required for the move.

Born on 28 May 2000, Asiku is a Ugandan national and has moved between several domestic clubs since first joining Wakiso Giants from Vipers in 2023. His route to Blacks Power has taken him through Gaddafi, Lugazi and Calvary before the latest change.

The transfer adds another chapter to a career spent entirely in Uganda’s club game, with Asiku now beginning a new spell at Blacks Power. He joined the club as a free agent on 24 August 2026.
