Elye Wahi returns to Nice from Frankfurt on loan

Ivory Coast and France forward Elye Wahi has joined Nice from Eintracht Frankfurt on loan, returning to the Ligue 1 club after spending the second half of the 2025-26 season on the French Riviera.

The 23-year-old centre-forward has signed with Nice until 30 June 2027. He moves back to France after a spell in the Bundesliga with Frankfurt and will now continue his career in Ligue 1, where Nice are his current club.

Wahi first joined Nice from Frankfurt on 1 January 2026 in a loan deal that included a €1.5m loan fee. That arrangement ended on 30 June, when he returned to the German club, before completing another loan move in the opposite direction on 24 August.

The forward’s latest transfer keeps him at Nice while maintaining his registration with Frankfurt. No fee has been stated for the new loan.

Born in Courcouronnes, France, Wahi has the nationality of both France and Ivory Coast. He stands 1.81m tall and favours his right foot, with his main position listed as centre-forward.

Wahi joined Frankfurt from Marseille on 24 January 2025 in a €26m transfer. Before that move, he had spent the first part of the 2024-25 season at Marseille after transferring from Lens for €27m in August 2024.

His time at Lens followed a €30m move from Montpellier in August 2023. Wahi began his senior career with Montpellier after progressing through the club’s reserve side, having earlier been part of youth football at Montpellier and Montfermeil.

The return to Nice gives Wahi another opportunity to play in Ligue 1 after his previous French campaign was interrupted by the move to Germany. His new club competes in France’s top division, while Frankfurt play in the Bundesliga.

Wahi’s contract with Nice runs through 30 June 2027, and the completed loan transfer was registered on 24 August 2026.
