Youssouf Fofana: Brighton emerge as potential destination for AC Milan midfielder
Youssouf Fofana, the France and Mali midfielder at AC Milan, has been linked with a move to Brighton in the Premier League.
Fofana, 27, plays as a defensive midfielder and is under contract with the Italian club until 30 June 2028. The rumour comes with the player yet to feature for Milan in Serie A this season, having not made an appearance in the campaign’s opening game.
He joined Milan from Monaco on 17 August 2024 in a deal worth €26m. Fofana had spent four-and-a-half seasons with Monaco after beginning his senior career at Strasbourg, where he won the French League Cup in 2019.
The midfielder has since added an Italian Super Cup winners’ medal with Milan, collected during the 2024-25 season. He was also part of the France squad that finished runners-up at the 2022 World Cup.
Fofana’s current market value is listed at €23m, below the fee Milan paid to sign him from Monaco. Any move to Brighton would therefore involve a player still contracted to Milan for two further seasons beyond the current campaign.
The proposed switch remains a rumour, with Fofana’s contractual position at Milan unchanged.
