Fabinho set to reunite with Mohamed Salah at Trabzonspor

Fabinho says he is delighted by the prospect of playing alongside Mohamed Salah again as the former Liverpool team-mates prepare to reunite at Trabzonspor.

The Brazil international arrived in Turkey on Monday to complete his move to the Turkish club, which is expected to officially announce the signing of the former Al-Ittihad midfielder on a free transfer during the summer window.

Fabinho and Salah spent five years together at Liverpool, helping the club win a number of major honours. The pair could now link up again if Fabinho’s move to Trabzonspor is completed.

“Playing with Salah again is a very special feeling. Besides being a great player, and perhaps more importantly, he is also a great person,” Fabinho said in comments reported by beIN Sports.

He added: “We played together for five years. Despite everything we achieved, he still works hard to be the best and gives everything he has for the team.”

According to Turkish outlet A Spor, Trabzonspor have opened formal negotiations with Fabinho and reached a preliminary agreement with the Brazilian as they work towards finalising the transfer.

The 32-year-old became a free agent after ending his time with Al-Ittihad. He made 44 appearances in all competitions last season, playing a total of 3,906 minutes, and recorded three goals and four assists.

Fabinho was also part of Brazil’s squad at the 2026 World Cup, where he played three matches.

A move to Trabzonspor would see him return to club football alongside Salah, having previously shared the Liverpool midfield with the Egypt forward.

Fabinho joined Liverpool from Monaco in 2018 and became an important part of the side that won the Premier League, UEFA Champions League, FA Cup, EFL Cup and FIFA Club World Cup during his time at Anfield.
