Mohamed Aboutrika keeps his feelings hidden after son Ahmed scores for Al Markhiya

Former Al Ahly star Mohamed Aboutrika responded with a smile rather than words when asked about his son Ahmed’s goal for Al Markhiya against Al Khor.

Ahmed Aboutrika scored in Al Markhiya’s 3-0 victory over Al Khor in the Qatar Second Division, contributing to a comfortable win for his side.

The 30th-minute goal came after Ahmed took advantage of an excellent pass and accelerated into the penalty area. He then lifted the ball over the goalkeeper to complete a composed finish.

Ahmed’s performance earned him the player of the match award after he helped Al Markhiya secure a three-goal victory in the opening match of the Qatar Second Division.

The goal was later shown while Mohamed Aboutrika was appearing as a studio analyst for beIN SPORTS. When he was asked about his son’s display, the former Egypt international declined to discuss it in detail, appearing embarrassed and responding only with a smile.

Explaining his reaction, Aboutrika said: “I am shy in my life, but of course I am different on the pitch. As for my personal life, I feel shy talking about my children or my home, so I will leave others to talk about them.”

The moment attracted attention because of the contrast between Ahmed’s involvement in an important Al Markhiya victory and his father’s reluctant response when invited to praise him on air.

The goal was also featured in a beIN SPORTS social media post highlighting the reaction during the post-match analysis. The broadcaster noted that Ahmed’s strike had a special significance because of the presence of his father in the studio.

Ahmed, known as the younger Aboutrika in the report, showed pace and confidence in the move before finishing over the advancing goalkeeper. His contribution helped Al Markhiya claim all three goals in the match and saw him recognised individually at the end of the game.

Mohamed Aboutrika remains a widely recognised figure in Egyptian football after his career with Al Ahly and the Egypt national team. On this occasion, however, he chose not to offer a detailed assessment of his son’s goal, saying that he prefers other people to speak about his family.
