Anthony Dennis takes Turkish Super Lig experience to Al-Jazira in UAE move

Nigeria midfielder Anthony Dennis has joined Al-Jazira from Goztepe, moving from Turkey’s Super Lig to the United Arab Emirates Pro League.

The 22-year-old defensive midfielder completed the switch on 23 August 2026 and will continue his career with the Abu Dhabi-based club. Dennis is listed as a right-footed midfielder and stands 1.83m tall.

His move brings an end to a spell with Goztepe, where he progressed from the club’s under-19 side to the senior team. Dennis joined Goztepe U19 from HB Abuja in January 2023 before moving into Goztepe’s first-team setup in July of the same year.

Dennis’s arrival gives Al-Jazira a Nigeria international-profile player in the central midfield area, although the available record identifies his nationality rather than detailing appearances for the senior national team. He joins the club as a defensive midfielder, the position in which he has been primarily used.

The transfer also marks a change of league for Dennis. He leaves the Turkish Super Lig for the UAE Pro League, with Al-Jazira listed as his new club from the start of the 2026-27 season.

Dennis’s market value is listed at €8m, but no transfer fee has been disclosed for the move from Goztepe. No contract expiry date has been stated.

At Goztepe, Dennis’s route to the first team followed his arrival from Nigeria and a season in the club’s youth structure. His move to Al-Jazira now represents the next step in a career that has taken him from HB Abuja to Turkey and, in the space of three years, on to the United Arab Emirates.

Al-Jazira compete in the UAE Pro League, while Goztepe remain in Turkey’s Super Lig. The switch therefore takes Dennis into a different domestic football system as he begins his first recorded spell with a club outside Turkey.

Al-Jazira have completed the signing of Anthony Dennis from Goztepe, with the Nigerian midfielder joining the UAE Pro League club on 23 August 2026.
