Fouzi Lekjaa, the President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation and head of the national teams committee, held several evaluative meetings regarding the participation of the national football team in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast with the national coach, Walid El Rekraki.
The discussions involved a review of the preparation phases for this competition and the accompanying results, which halted at the round of 16, leaving a sense of regret and disappointment within all components of Moroccan football.
Addressing the shortcomings present in this competition, especially in the last match against the South African national team, was a focal point of the discussions.
Fouzi Lekjaa, President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, emphasized the necessity of continuing the work and exerting maximum effort to give the national team and football the deserved status.
This is aimed at bringing joy to the Moroccan fans in upcoming competitions, notably the 2026 World Cup qualifiers and preparations for the Africa Cup of Nations in our country next summer.
It reflects the high patronage given by His Majesty King Mohammed VI to the national football.
On this occasion, the Royal Moroccan Football Federation renews its confidence in Walid El Rekraki to lead the team in the next phase.
He is granted all means of support and assistance to achieve the status that Moroccan football, in general, and the national team, in particular, deserve.
The Royal Moroccan Football Federation also extends its gratitude to the loyal Moroccan fans, both inside and outside the country, for their national spirit and great sacrifice, especially to those who endured the travel burden to Ivory Coast.
They are urged to further rally and support the national team to meet the challenge of the 2025 Africa Cup and upcoming competitions.
