Ouaddou wishes Van Rooyen well after Orlando Pirates departure

Orlando Pirates coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has paid tribute to Deano van Rooyen after the defender left the club by mutual agreement, describing him as an outstanding footballer and person.

“Deano was a fantastic player, in terms of sports and as a human,” said Ouaddou.

The Orlando Pirates coach said Van Rooyen had consistently shown his commitment to the club and had given his best whenever he represented the Buccaneers.

His contribution, according to Ouaddou, extended beyond his performances. Van Rooyen had helped the club win trophies and had played a role in bringing happiness to both the supporters and Orlando Pirates.

“He gave a lot to the club, he won a lot of trophies and gave joy to the fans, he gave joy to the club as well,” said Ouaddou.

The coach accepted that changes to a squad are a normal part of football and said Orlando Pirates and Van Rooyen had agreed on a way for the player to continue his career elsewhere.

“I think it’s part of life for the club to have some movements. So, the club and him found a way to continue his career elsewhere,” he added.

Ouaddou expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to work with Van Rooyen and ended his message by offering the defender his best wishes for his future plans.

“I was very proud to work with him and want to wish him all the best for his next project.”

Van Rooyen’s departure was confirmed by Orlando Pirates earlier this week, with the club and player mutually agreeing to part ways. Ouaddou’s comments underline the respect the defender retains within the Buccaneers camp following his contribution to the club.
