Galatasaray push to complete Pape Matar Sarr deal after five-year agreement
Pape Matar Sarr has agreed personal terms with Galatasaray, leaving negotiations between Tottenham and the Turkish club as the only remaining obstacle to a proposed move for the Senegal midfielder.
Sarr is understood to have accepted a five-year contract that would keep him at Galatasaray until 2031. The proposed deal includes a reported salary of €5m (£4.3m) per season.
The latest development was first reported exclusively by Africafoot, while transfer specialist Krrish has also reported that Sarr and his representatives have given the move the green light. Personal terms are now considered fully settled, allowing Galatasaray to focus on reaching an agreement with Tottenham over the transfer fee.
The talks are currently being conducted through representatives of the two clubs. There has not yet been direct contact between Galatasaray and Tottenham, according to the report.
Tottenham are holding firm on their valuation and want €30m in guaranteed payments before allowing Sarr to leave. Galatasaray are attempting to reduce the cost of the deal and hope to agree a total package below €25m, including €20m guaranteed.
The Turkish side are reportedly determined to complete the transfer, but the final outcome will depend on whether Tottenham are prepared to compromise on their demands. With the player’s approval already secured, negotiations over the fee have become the decisive part of the proposed move.
Sarr’s departure from Tottenham is therefore becoming increasingly likely, although no agreement between the clubs has been reached at this stage. The midfielder would sign a five-year contract in Istanbul and earn €5m per season if the deal is completed.
The proposed salary would represent an increase on Sarr’s current reported annual earnings at Tottenham, which are listed as €4,254,114 (£3.7m; 2,765,174,100 CFA francs).
The transfer discussions come shortly before Tottenham’s second Premier League fixture of the season, against Newcastle. The report states that betting company 1xBet lists Tottenham as 2.05 favourites, with a draw priced at 3.65 and a Newcastle win at 3.00. It also contains a promotional reference to downloading the 1xBet application.
Sarr joined Tottenham from Metz and has established himself as part of the club’s midfield options. Any agreement with Galatasaray would now depend primarily on the two clubs finding common ground over the guaranteed and overall value of the transfer.
