Liverpool talks over Yankuba Minteh move reach critical stage

Liverpool are intensifying negotiations with Brighton for Yankuba Minteh after having two offers rejected for the Gambia winger.

The bids, understood to have been worth about €58m and €69m, have not met Brighton’s valuation. According to Footy-Africa, Brighton are seeking more than €80m for the 22-year-old, leaving Liverpool working to close the gap between the two clubs.

Discussions are continuing, with Liverpool hoping to reach an agreement quickly for a player regarded as one of the Premier League’s most promising wingers. No final deal has yet been reached between the clubs or with Minteh.

Minteh is waiting for meaningful progress in the talks between Liverpool and Brighton before beginning detailed discussions over a new contract. His representative, Bakary Bojang, remains central to the negotiations and is now working with CAA Stellar as part of the process.

Personal terms are not expected to present a major obstacle if Liverpool and Brighton can settle the transfer fee. The focus remains on whether the Reds can satisfy Brighton’s financial demands and complete a deal for the young Gambian.

The negotiations appear to be moving in a positive direction, and the next few hours could prove important. Liverpool are seeking to reduce the difference between their current offer and the amount wanted by Brighton, who are in a strong position because Minteh remains under contract until June 2029.

Although Minteh’s market value is estimated at €45m by Transfermarkt, the eventual fee could be considerably higher if Liverpool agree to Brighton’s terms. The asking price reflects the club’s contractual position and the level of interest in the winger.

Minteh earns an annual salary of €2,467,296 in England, equivalent to 1,603,742,400 FCFA. He has not yet entered substantive talks over his future contract because the clubs are still attempting to resolve the central issue of the transfer.

Brighton’s next fixture is their opening match of the English league season against Aston Villa. Betting company 1xbet lists Brighton as the 2.20 favourite, with a draw priced at 3.65 and an Aston Villa victory at 3.10.
