Benoit Badiashile joins Napoli from Chelsea in €3m loan move

France and DR Congo defender Benoit Badiashile has joined Napoli from Chelsea on a season-long loan, with the Italian club paying a €3m loan fee for the 25-year-old centre-back.

Badiashile’s move to Serie A was completed on 22 August and his agreement with Napoli runs until 30 June 2027. He will wear the number five shirt at the club.

The left-footed defender arrives in Naples after three-and-a-half years with Chelsea, having moved to the Premier League club from Monaco in January 2023 for €38m. He made 42 Premier League appearances for Chelsea, scoring once and providing one assist.

Badiashile was part of Chelsea’s squad that won the Conference League in the 2024-25 season and the Fifa Club World Cup in 2025. He also finished as an FA Cup runner-up with the club during the 2025-26 campaign.

The 1.94m defender began his senior career at Monaco after progressing through the French club’s youth system. He made 106 Ligue 1 appearances for Monaco, scoring six goals and registering two assists, before his transfer to Chelsea.

Napoli have secured Badiashile’s services for the 2026-27 campaign, while the scheduled end of the loan will see him return to Chelsea on 30 June 2027. His current market value is €15m, below the €40m figure recorded during his time at Monaco.

Badiashile has now completed his move from Chelsea to Napoli on loan.
