Sofiane Boufal wanted by Deportivo La Coruña after Le Havre spell
Deportivo La Coruña have identified Moroccan international Sofiane Boufal as one of their preferred targets as they look to add attacking quality during the summer transfer window.
The Spanish club value Boufal’s experience and technical ability and could make an approach in the coming days to investigate the conditions of a possible transfer.
Boufal, 32, has built a career across several European leagues as well as spells outside Europe. After developing in France, he made his name at Angers before moving abroad and playing for Southampton in the Premier League, Celta Vigo in Spain, Lille in France and Al Rayyan in Qatar.
The Morocco international most recently featured for Union Saint-Gilloise and Le Havre, with his latest spell coming in Ligue 1.
During the 2025/26 season, Boufal played for both Union Saint-Gilloise and Le Havre. He made 17 Ligue 1 appearances for Le Havre, scoring once and registering four assists.
He also played nine matches in the Belgian league for Union Saint-Gilloise and made appearances in the Champions League.
Those numbers highlight the creative side of Boufal’s game. Although his playing time was not always consistent, he continued to offer an attacking threat through his ability to take on defenders, create space and produce opportunities in the final third.
His four assists for Le Havre in Ligue 1 were particularly notable and reflected his contribution as a creator.
Before returning to France, Boufal also played a part in Union Saint-Gilloise’s Belgian championship success in 2025, adding another major domestic honour to his career.
Deportivo’s interest comes after Boufal recently rejected an approach from Renaissance Berkane.
The Moroccan club had been trying to persuade the Atlas Lion to join them during the current summer transfer window, but Boufal decided against the move.
That decision has left the possibility of another spell abroad open, with exclusive sources also claiming that FC Metz have an interest in the 32-year-old.
Deportivo could now provide another option for Boufal, particularly given his previous experience in Spanish football.
The Moroccan already knows the country from his time at Celta Vigo, while his experience in La Liga, Ligue 1, the Premier League, Qatar and Belgium gives him considerable familiarity with different football environments.
For Deportivo, that experience could make Boufal an attractive option as they look to improve their attacking options.
The Galician club have not yet submitted an official offer for the player, but Boufal is understood to be among the profiles being considered.
A formal approach could be made in the coming days as Deportivo continue their search for an experienced and creative attacker capable of operating in several positions.
For now, Boufal’s future remains undecided, with Deportivo La Coruña considering whether to turn their interest into a concrete proposal.
