David Oduro: Ghanaian full-back takes next step with FC Annecy switch
Ghanaian left-back David Oduro has joined French club FC Annecy from Barca Atletic, beginning a new chapter in Ligue 2 at the age of 20.
Oduro has signed a contract with Annecy running until 30 June 2028. The move brings the defender to France after two years with Barca Atletic, having initially arrived at the Spanish club from Accra Lions in August 2024.
The left-footed full-back made 10 appearances in Primera Federacion and featured 23 times in Segunda Federacion, scoring once and providing one assist in the latter competition. His career record also includes 50 Premier League appearances, with one goal and six assists.
Oduro joined Barca Atletic after developing in Ghana with Accra Lions, who signed him from Accra Lions Under-17s in August 2022. His transfer to the Barcelona reserve side was completed for €150,000, providing the foundation for his move into European football.
At international level, Oduro represents Ghana. He stands 1.74m tall and operates primarily on the left side of defence, offering Annecy an option in a position he has occupied throughout his career.
His time in Spain also included appearances in the Under-20 Intercontinental Cup and the UEFA Youth League. Oduro was part of the FC Barcelona UEFA Under-19 side that won the UEFA Youth League in the 2024-25 season.
Annecy compete in Ligue 2, placing Oduro in a new domestic competition as he continues his senior career in France. The move also follows a period in which he gained experience across Spanish league football after leaving Ghana.
Oduro’s arrival gives the club a young Ghanaian defender with experience in both youth and senior competitions, as well as a record of attacking contributions from the full-back position. His contract ties him to Annecy through the end of June 2028.
The transfer was completed on 22 August 2026, with Oduro leaving Barca Atletic to join FC Annecy.
