RS Berkane agree deal to sign Cape Verde captain Ryan Mendes
Moroccan club RS Berkane have reached an agreement to sign Cape Verde captain Ryan Mendes on a one-year contract, with an option to extend his stay beyond the 2026-27 season.
The 36-year-old forward is set to bolster the squad after head coach Bubista identified the experienced attacker as a key target, with the move marking a reunion between the pair from their time with the Cape Verde national team.
Mendes is expected to bring leadership and experience to Berkane as the club prepares for a new campaign in domestic and continental competitions.
The veteran has been one of Cape Verde’s most influential players over the past decade, captaining the Blue Sharks and playing a central role in the nation’s recent successes on the international stage.
Bubista, who has worked closely with Mendes at international level, is understood to have pushed for the signing, and Berkane have now secured a full agreement for the deal to go ahead.
The contract includes the option of a further year, giving the club the flexibility to retain Mendes beyond his initial spell if both parties are satisfied with his performances.
RS Berkane have established themselves as one of Morocco’s leading clubs in recent years, enjoying sustained success in African competition and regularly competing at the top end of the Botola Pro.
The addition of Mendes provides the club with another experienced figure as they seek to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season.
