Hakim Ziyech’s future at Wydad Casablanca remains uncertain as talks over changes to his contract continue, with disagreements centring on how his wages should be paid rather than the overall value of his deal.

The Morocco international and the club are locked in negotiations over a proposed restructuring of his payment arrangement, as Wydad seek to keep one of their highest-profile players while addressing the terms of his contract.

The dispute is understood not to concern the total amount Ziyech is owed. Instead, Wydad want to alter the payment structure by reducing his monthly salary and replacing part of it with a signing bonus that would be paid in instalments over time.

Ziyech has rejected the proposal and wants to retain the existing payment structure agreed in his current contract.

Despite the impasse, Wydad’s administration are keen to keep the 33-year-old at the club and continue to push for a compromise that would allow both parties to reach an agreement.

The negotiations come amid wider tensions surrounding Ziyech’s day-to-day involvement with the team.

His relationship with the club’s medical staff has reportedly become strained, while disagreements have also emerged over training arrangements.

Head coach Mohamed Amine Benhachem has now made Ziyech’s participation in tactical training sessions dependent on him following the squad’s agreed routines, adding another layer of uncertainty to the situation.

Ziyech joined Wydad as one of the club’s marquee signings after spells with Ajax, Chelsea, Galatasaray and Al-Duhail, with his arrival seen as a significant boost for the Moroccan side.

For now, however, his future remains unresolved as negotiations continue, with both the player and the club still searching for a solution that could end the standoff.
