Morocco international Ismael Saibari will feature for Bayern Munich against Borussia Dortmund in Saturday’s German Super Cup, manager Vincent Kompany has confirmed.

The Moroccan midfielder is returning from injury, meaning Bayern will carefully manage his minutes during the season’s opening major fixture.

Kompany praised Saibari’s qualities ahead of the final, highlighting the 24-year-old’s physical strength, pace and ability to contribute in front of goal.

“Ismaël Saibari has a lot of strength and speed, and he is also good at finishing,” Kompany said, according to Bayern Munich’s official account.

Saibari’s minutes will be managed

Although Saibari is expected to play a part against Dortmund, Kompany made it clear that the midfielder’s fitness will determine how long he remains on the pitch.

“It is important that he develops an understanding with his teammates. He will have a role tomorrow, but he is coming back from injury, so we will see how many minutes he can play,” Kompany said.

The Bayern manager explained that decisions during the game will be based on how his players respond physically, with substitutions possible if required.

For Saibari, the match represents an important step in his return to full fitness and an opportunity to begin establishing himself in Kompany’s plans.

Kompany expects important role

Despite the concerns over his fitness, Kompany has made it clear that Saibari is part of Bayern’s plans for the campaign.

The Belgian coach described the Moroccan as a player who “will be an important player for us.”

His combination of strength, speed and finishing ability is expected to give Bayern another attacking option as they prepare for a demanding season.

Bayern targeting another trophy

Kompany also stressed that Bayern are treating the Super Cup as an important final rather than a secondary competition.

“I don’t distinguish between the importance of trophies. In the end, your goal is to win them all. It is a final tomorrow,” he said.

The clash with Dortmund therefore provides Saibari with an opportunity to make an early impact while continuing his recovery.

For the Morocco international, the priority will be contributing to Bayern’s bid for another trophy without rushing his return to full match fitness.
