Wrexham weigh up Championship move for Angers left-back Jacques Ekomie

Jacques Ekomie, the Gabonese-French left-back at Angers SCO, has been linked with a move to Wrexham.

The 23-year-old currently plays in Ligue 1, while Wrexham are preparing for another Championship campaign. Ekomie’s contract with Angers runs until 30 June 2027, meaning any move would require an agreement between the clubs rather than a free transfer.

Ekomie joined Angers from Bordeaux in July 2024 on a free transfer. He has since established experience in France’s top flight, making 50 Ligue 1 appearances and playing 2,935 minutes in the competition.

The defender’s listed market value is €9m, although no transfer fee has been reported in connection with the rumoured move. Ekomie is left-footed and operates primarily at left-back.

Born in Libreville, Ekomie holds Gabonese and French nationality. Before joining Angers, he progressed through Bordeaux’s system after beginning his youth career with clubs in the Merignac area.

The reported link would represent a move from Ligue 1 to the Championship, but there has been no confirmation that an agreement has been reached. Ekomie remains an Angers player under contract through the end of June 2027.
