Anagennisi Karditsa consider move for Aris Saloniki teenager Matar Thiam
Matar Thiam, the 18-year-old Senegalese defender at Aris Saloniki, has been linked with a move to Anagennisi Karditsa in Greece’s Super League 2.
Thiam joined Aris from Senegalese club Rufisque OS on 6 July 2026, arriving on a free transfer. He signed a contract running until 30 June 2030, but the proposed move would see him leave a Super League 1 club for a side in Greece’s second tier.
The defender has yet to make a first-team appearance for Aris this season. He was included in the club’s current Kypello Elladas campaign but has not played in the competition, registering no appearances, goals or assists.
Anagennisi Karditsa are considering Thiam as the clubs assess a possible transfer, although there has been no confirmation that an agreement has been reached. The move would come less than two months after his arrival in Greece and would represent a change of club early in his contract.
Thiam’s senior club record currently includes his spell with Rufisque OS and his short period at Aris. He has represented Senegal at national-club level through Aris Thessaloniki, but no senior international appearances are recorded.
For now, Thiam remains an Aris Saloniki player, with his long-term contract in place as speculation over a move to Anagennisi Karditsa continues.
