Lilian Brassier: Frankfurt linked with Stade Rennais defender

French-Togolese centre-back Lilian Brassier is being linked with a move from Stade Rennais to Bundesliga club Frankfurt.

The 26-year-old returned to Rennes in July 2025 after leaving Stade Brestois, with the Ligue 1 club paying €12m for his transfer. He is under contract until 30 June 2029, meaning any move would likely require an agreement between the clubs rather than a free transfer.

Brassier has made 161 Ligue 1 appearances during his career, scoring six goals and providing three assists. He spent the 2024-25 season with Marseille and Brest on loan before making his permanent return to Rennes.

The reported possibility of a move to Frankfurt is rated at 51%, while Brassier’s current market value is €12m. No transfer fee or agreement has been reported, and the link remains a rumour.

Brassier began his career in Rennes’ academy and made his senior breakthrough after loan spells with Valenciennes and Brest. He subsequently joined Brest permanently in 2021 before returning to Rennes four years later.

The defender is currently registered with Stade Rennais, where his contract runs through the end of the 2028-29 season.
