Luwawu joins Burnley U21 as Angola midfielder makes move from AFA

Angola midfielder Luwawu has joined Burnley U21 from AFA, moving into English football with the Premier League 2 side.

The 18-year-old completed the switch on 20 August 2026 and has signed a contract with Burnley that runs until 30 June 2030. No transfer fee has been announced for the move.

Luwawu plays as a defensive midfielder and is left-footed. Born in Luanda, he stands 1.78m tall and arrives at Burnley after being registered with AFA in Angola.

His move places him within Burnley’s under-21 set-up, which competes in Premier League 2. The transfer gives the Angola international a new club environment in England and marks his first recorded move away from AFA.

Luwawu’s role is primarily in the centre of midfield, where he is listed as a defensive midfielder. His left-footed profile adds a specific technical detail to his playing background, while his age places him among the younger members of Burnley’s development squad.

The move was completed at the start of the 2026-27 season, with Burnley U21 listed as his new club from 20 August. His contract length keeps him at the club through the end of June 2030.

Luwawu has therefore left AFA for Burnley U21, where he will continue his career in Premier League 2.
