Atl. Bembibre sign Spanish-Cape Verdean midfielder Aleixo Cabral
Spanish-Cape Verdean attacking midfielder Aleixo Cabral has joined Atl. Bembibre from Astorga on a free transfer, returning to the club where he previously played.
Cabral, 31, completed the move on 20 August 2026 and has signed a contract with Atl. Bembibre until 30 June 2027. The midfielder was born in Ponferrada and holds Spanish and Cape Verdean nationality.
He arrives after a spell with Astorga, whom he joined from CD Barco in January 2024. Cabral made 22 appearances in Segunda Federacion Group I, playing 1,170 minutes, before adding two appearances in the promotion play-offs and one in the Copa del Rey.
His move back to Bembibre brings him to a club he represented earlier in his career. Cabral joined Atl. Bembibre from Ponferradina’s under-19 side in July 2012, remaining there before moving to Zamora CF in July 2017.
Since then, he has played for GCE Villaralbo, CD Ribadumia, CD Sarinena, Atletico Arteixo and CD Caspe. He returned to Atl. Bembibre from CD Caspe in August 2021, before leaving the club for an undisclosed destination a year later.
Cabral subsequently joined CD Barco in July 2023 and moved to Astorga midway through the 2023-24 campaign. His latest switch represents another free transfer in a career that has included clubs across Spanish football.
Atl. Bembibre have now secured the services of an experienced attacking midfielder with a previous connection to the club and recent playing time in Segunda Federacion. Cabral’s contract with the Spanish side runs through 30 June 2027.
