Leicester consider move for Wrexham goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo
Nigeria- and England-qualified goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo is the subject of a rumoured move from Wrexham to Leicester, with the League One club linked with a deal for the 24-year-old.
Okonkwo is contracted to Wrexham until 30 June 2027 and has a reported market value of €5m. He joined the Welsh club permanently from Arsenal in July 2024 after returning from a loan spell there, having previously spent time on loan at Sturm Graz and Crewe Alexandra.
The goalkeeper has yet to make an appearance for Wrexham in the 2026-27 Championship or EFL Cup, with the new campaign having begun before the rumour emerged. Wrexham are competing in the Championship, while Leicester are listed as a League One club.
Okonkwo played a part in Wrexham’s promotion to the third tier in the 2023-24 season and was also part of Sturm Graz’s Austrian Cup-winning team in 2022-23. He began his career in Arsenal’s academy before progressing through the club’s youth and senior development teams.
The reported interest comes with more than 10 months remaining on his Wrexham contract, meaning any potential move would not be a free transfer. There is no indication that an agreement has been reached, and Okonkwo remains a Wrexham player.
